I keep Missing The Goalposts..

It's been a while since I last sat and put pen to paper - metaphorically speaking. It's fair to say I've had some challenges with a chest infection leading to fluid on my lungs and long bouts of antibiotics. With that in mind and the American's war leading to severely high diesel prices, I have made the tough decision to give the Dalby Devil a miss - the most I could have pushed out was the 60 miler. In it's place I have decided to ride the Glorious Gravel Peak District event on the 7th May and this year my goal is to complete the full 90km. It's now the 7th May, the event is on the 7th June so some serious training to take place in a short amount of time and, to top it all, my weight has slipped back up through my own lack of will power - mmm biscuits - and a massive drop in potential exercising. The longest ride I've done this year is 40 miles and I haven't been able to go big since that ride 5 or so weeks ago.

Niamh, my 10 year old has also been doing some training with me. Last week, after school, we managed a nifty 16 miler where, due to her inexperience and lack of speed, I managed to stay mostly in zone 2 with just a few jumps on the hills which I took in a gear harder than usual and ground out the watts.

Tonight though, I pumped out an 18 miler with a higher average power and consistent Z5 heart rate, trying to use the lack of distance along with some serious (for me) pushing.

Keep an eye out her over the following days as I get to grips with my (donated) action cam (Insta 360) and give you some stunning vistas around my adopted home in the Peaks.
